Paaqavi Incorporated, a 501 (C),(3) Non-profit, was formed in 1994. The overall mission is to improve the quality of life on a grass roots, community level. The stated mission is “to provide for a good life by promoting Hopi tradition, religion and culture; to create social, economic and cultural opportunities for individuals, groups and villages as a collective; to preserve the Hopi language; to preserve Hopi agriculture, arts and architecture; and to promote for a positive and healthy community environment of the Hopi villages”.
President – Lyle J. Balenquah Mr. Balenquah, Hopi, BA Anthropology, MA Cultural Anthropology is experienced in Resource Management laws, analysis of cultural and archaeological resources and technical writing for project management and state/federal/tribal compliance regulations.
Vice-President – Suzanne Jamison Ms. Jamison is certified as a community development specialist and provides expertise to the Board on best practices to be found nationally and internationally for non-profits.
Secretary/Treasurer – Marilyn Fredericks, J.D. Ms. Fredericks is a Hopi tribal member and has experience in developing non-profits; administration, financial and project management of grant funding for villages, governments and non-profits.
Marshall Masayesva – Board of Directors. Mr. Masayesva is a Hopi tribal member with a Bachelor of Arts from Fort Lewis College in Adventure Education with 8 years of technical adventure experience and is trained as a Wilderness First Responder (Outdoor Medical and Safety).
